Tollymore Trip 1 Day 1

21st Jun 2017

Our P6 residential got off to a fantastic start!

After a bright and early start we settled into our rooms quickly and went straight out to learn about orienteering.

The children developed their map reading skills and had to place orienteering flags into the ground. They were then set the challenge of finding the different numbers on the flags in pairs. Their aim was to find them all in the fastest time, with some completing it under 30 minutes!

After lunch we made our way to the Mourne Mountains and set off on a walk up Butter and Spelga mountain all situated around the Spelga dam.

After dinner we had to search in the forest for good dry sticks to take to the beach with us to set up a fire. We then travelled to the beach and had a go at setting up a fire using Kelly kettles to boil the water. We had some hot chocolate and enjoyed a lovely evening by the sea.
