Last week the classrooms and corridors were buzzing with the sounds of campaigning as pupils set out their plans and pledges as Eco Committee candidates. We were so impressed at the number of pupils who put themselves forward for election and there were scores of excellent and very creative manifestos. Congratulations to all the pupils who were voted onto our Eco committee for this year, we are sure they will be excellent representatives for all pupils in our school.
This comes after we very proudly accepted our Eco Ambassador Award in a special assembly last week. We are one of only 20 schools in Northern Ireland that has reached ‘Ambassador’ status and this award shows our commitment to the environment over many years.
‘Being an Ambassador Eco-School is recognition that you are an inspirational flagship Eco-School, with exceptional levels of pupil leadership and whole school support which ensures sustainability is embedded in the school ethos. As an Ambassador Eco-School you will have successfully delivered a change in the culture of the school and will be able to demonstrate successful pupil and community interaction.’ (Eco-Schools NI)
