Through the study of a range of exciting topics, children are encouraged to develop a curiosity about the world around them. At Ballyclare Primary School, pupils are given opportunities to explore and develop an awareness of their local community and the wider world. Topic work incorporates themes within Science, Geography and History and pupils are encouraged to ask questions, investigate ideas and make connections.Â
Topic work is incorporated into all areas of the curriculum, including the core subjects of Numeracy, Literacy and Using ICT. Pupils particularly enjoy reading and writing about their topic and using ICT to explore topics and discover new facts and ideas.
Embedded in our teaching of World Around Us is our Outdoor Learning and the range of educational visits pupils enjoy throughout their time in our school. These experiences allow pupils to gain first-hand knowledge of their local environment and they provide excellent opportunities to apply their learning in the real world.
