This week we took their learning beyond the classroom as we ventured outside to measure the flow of traffic passing along the Doagh Road in front of our school.
With clipboards in hands, our budding mathematicians and scientists tallied the number of cars driving past. This hands-on experience enhanced pupils’ understanding of the real world uses of maths and data collection.
We’re now going to use the data to produce bar graphs back in class, alongside our research, to write a letter to our local MLA to let him know how busy the road outside our school is.
